Work Down Under
The
last of the new columns under the north bridge
approach were poured this week, and crews are
busy capping the columns with the structure
that will support the new approaches.
Crews
are also hard at work strengthening the bridge
approach abutment wall and the North 34th Street
substructure, deep in the bowels of Fremont.
Work
is also proceeding smoothly under the south
bridge approach, with only a few columns left
to be poured.
36th
Street Work
The
new sidewalk and curb between Evanston and Dayton
on the south side of North 36th is essentially
finished, just six weeks after work began! Crews
are now rebuilding the curb and sidewalk at
the SE corner of Evanston & 36th.
Some
of the new traffic signal poles have been installed
along 36th in the last few weeks, and crews
will be mounting new mast arms and signal heads
before long. The new traffic signals (with new
turn lanes etc.) are scheduled to begin operations
before the end of April.
Fremont
Filming this Sunday, 3/5
A
camera-stuffed car will be filming an internet-based
virtual tour of downtown Fremont this Sunday,
between 7am and 6pm. Some parking will be restricted
along the planned route and Seattle police will
escort the vehicle.
Businesses
are encouraged to look open - signage lit, no
"closed" signs in windows, etc. -
to make the best impression on folks who take
the resultant virtual tour. Fremont is one of
five neighborhoods in the country being featured
on this website, a means of promoting Toyota's
new Yaris automobile.
South
of the Ship Canal
The
intersection of Nickerson and Florentia with
3rd Avenue will be even busier than usual over
the next two weeks as crews install new traffic
signal pole foundations. This work will require
temporary one lane closures as crews remove
sidewalk sections, and form and pour the new
foundations. This work is scheduled to be completed
before the end of March.
Bridge
Way
The
detour path for traffic crossing under or getting
onto Aurora Avenue North is changing as paving
work in this area continues. Please continue
to exercise caution in this area and to be patient
with the detours, so that this work can be finished
safely and quickly. Work will begin later this
month where Bridge Way meets Stone Way North.
Open
House April 26th - Save the Date!
Phase
II of construction will be the focus of an Open
House to be held the evening of April 26th in
Adobe's conference center. Information on traffic
restrictions across the bridge, changes to Metro
bus routes, the overall project schedule and
more will be covered. Phase II of construction
is currently planned to begin in late May or
early June.
